Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-changes…..

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 9:51 pm

When you work in the same place for six years you can reach a point where almost any change would be good. I am living that right now, but tonight I got the confirmation that I am going to get that change. It's not exactly the change that I thought would come – that one still might but it will be months away yet – but I have a change happening in the next couple of weeks. It's a change of location, and a change of work circumstances. It's still the same job, but there is competition and change to be pushed through while bringing the community with it. The excitement of the change is so great I can taste it. I almost can't wait. Bring it on.

Watching you

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 9:05 pm

Well, Big Brother has started (the launch show is on now) and already the games ahve begun. The funniest thing is that, unknown to the rest of the housemates, two of the women are mother and daughter. They have already guaranteed that none of the blokes will work it out, because the daughter is so proud of her breast implants that she shows strong inclinations that she will not only tell everyone, but probably show them. Can't wait for the "do they feel the same?" question.

Sorry – ad break is finished – g'bye!

Today, however…….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 7:41 pm

Is my birthday, and I would like to thank everyone, family especially, for their kind thoughts and wishes for the day.

I think being 34 is going to be great, and I'm looking forward to everything it brings.

Happy birthday

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 12:03 am

Tofsay is not my birthdfay. TYoday, how3ever, is Easter Satyreday, when I have had friends and family over to celebrate muy borthdday. Shortly (on Wednesday) I will have my 34th birthdfay. I think I am doing OK for 34, and I ghave no real cpomplakints. Tonight my wife, who9 I love more than any being on earth (that shoudl be vcapital E) put together a magnificant dinner for about 15 people (at least 6 adults) and we had a wonderful time. It's hard to believe that they were thanking me for a good night, when I just felt grateful that they were here. It's nights like tonight, when I have way too many gin an dtinics, red wines, cocksucking cowboys, bourbon and coke's and home-brewed beers, that Zi miss my old home town, and people like Brother Joe, and some of the old friends that I left behinfd.  TYhen again, I have enjoyed success here, and would find it hard to leave th3e new friends that I would leave behind if I left here. They are not replacements – they are difgferent – and I wonder at times whether they realise that I love them. Fro some reason I found it faiurly easy to tell my Melbvourne friends that I loved them = I haven't told my Brisbane firends that yet. I do, I just don't feel as able to tell them yet. I wonder why thart is? Mind you, when I was back in Melbourne I think I could tuype beter! My apologies go to all for my dysklxuc typing – it is due to my antake on incohol. Untril later. Scoop

Dictatorships

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 9:52 am

A thought has crossed my mind – is it right that a dictator who consults enough on the things that don't matter can cover the fact that he or she doesn't consult on the things that do?

There's got to be a short film in that.

Cuff links

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 9:51 am

This morning I had a new experience. I new it was coming, but still I left any sort of solution to the last minute.

For the first time, I am wearing a business shirt that requires cuff links. I know that doesn't sound earth-shattering, but it is new for me. It is the result of having lost a bit of weight, needing some clothes that actually fit and wanting to upgrade the image a bit (shirts $9.99 at Lowes is not really what I needed anymore).

What I did not know what how to use cuff links. Do you fold the shirt cuff under itself like you would with a button-cuffed shirt, or do you mearly pinch the two sides of the cuf together and insert the cuff that way (which is how the shirt came in the packet).

Being a mover and shaker, a man confident in his powers and a ease with his world, I did the only logical thing for someone faced with such a dilemma.

I phoned Mum.

The end result – I'm confident in my world, AND in the way I am wearing my cuff links. For the record, I pinched the two sides together and inserted the cuff links rather than fold one side underneath.

PS – for the one who it matters to, my team beat your team….Yay!

Because I can

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scoop @ 6:48 pm

In a recent post I included a picture of a glass of beer being poured (see below). I did this out of curiosity, so get a reaction.

I also did it because I like beer and having an image of it on screen is comforting while blogging.

But no-one reads my blog for a history lesson. Who am I kidding – no-one reads my blog at all (well, no-one except close family and that bloke who donates to the Salvos occasionally).

Speaking of the Salvos, I had the enjoyment of attending their Queensland launch of the Red Shield appeal on Tuesday morning. The breakfast was OK, but what was really interesting was listening to the formerly drug addicted guest speaker talk about how much his life had changed since getting serious help. Of course, serious help costs serious money, which I suppose was the point of the whole thing.

I gave $20 tax deductible dollars.
